Magic, Camouflage, and Helpers

Our second graders making their own Belt of Truth!

Sunday was a great day with Graystone Kids. You may have noticed camo shirts and volunteers ready for battle as we kicked off our new series with All Stars called Bible Boot Camp. The music rocked and kids were taught from Ephesians 6 about the Armor of God. The first piece of armor is the Belt of Truth. Satan tells us so many lies and it’s so easy to doubt but by equipping ourselves and learning more about God and his promises we can resist them.

This is deep stuff but as we prayed, prepared and studied, the verse John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly,” continued to come to mind. Satan, the thief, does come to destroy our families and teach lies to our children. It is so important that our children learn now, at an early age, how to use the Bible and stand firm in the Truth. I’m so pumped about what God will teach Graystone Kids the next 5 weeks! If you’d like to purchase a shirt, please e-mail me at The memory verse for the week is:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Our preschoolers learned that Jesus will help us just like he healed the blind man in John 7:1-9. The memory verse is new for March. It’s 1 Peter 5:7 and the motions are:

He (Point up.) cares (Hug yourself.) for (Draw this word out in the air and swirl your pointer finger lands on someone.) you. (Pointing at someone.) 1 Peter 5:7 (Hold your hands like an open book in front of you.)

So, how can you apply this verse at home? During playtime with your child, Grab a hat or apron from the house and make it your “special helper” hat/apron. Hang it somewhere in the kitchen for everyone to see. Give it to your child to wear while he helps you. Tell your child that Jesus helps people, and He wants us to help people too. Each time he helps, praise him for being such a good helper just like Jesus.

Have a great week!

Friday we enjoyed a Family Fun Night with our preschoolers and their families at the Magic Circus!
