A Grandma’s Easter

A few years ago my grandmother had a stroke. It was very serious and we didn’t think she would make it. God saw it fit to save her life, but her greatest handicap is her speech. She can’t talk. I miss our talks so much. I would often call her after I made a good meal or when my pound cake wouldn’t turn out right. I love my grandmother.

Easter is her favorite time of year. When I was a little girl she would buy me an Easter dress from Belk. My grandmother was known as the candy lady. She made candy by the pounds and it was truly a work of art. I loved going to her house during April because it smelled of chocolate and her living room would be filled with beautiful Easter baskets. She used to tell me that she worked for the Easter bunny. My basket was always bigger than my brothers too!

I’m so excited about Graystone’s Easter Egg Hunt this year. Maybe it’s because it makes me think of my precious grandmother. I often send her cards in the mail and I think she’ll get a card this year with pictures of Graystone’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 17th. We need your help with donating eggs and candy for the hunt. It’s going to be a lot of fun! Hope you’ll make plans to attend.
