Children learning to give

Many people ask me what is All Stars like for our elementary children. I love this question because I’m so excited how God is moving in the hearts of our children and their families. All Stars is much like what adults experience on Sunday mornings. We have music, skits, videos, teaching and we also have small groups. One component of our worship that I love is offering. Children have an opportunity to give money to God every Sunday.

I was talking to Jacob McKnight and his mom on Sunday morning. Jacob was so excited because he had money to give during All Stars. Now, our offering basket is way cooler – it’s a beach bucket! The McKnight family had a yard sale and Jacob made $10 from selling cookies. Jacob’s parents have taught him to give to God first and Sunday was the first day Jacob gave his own money to God! The coolest part is that Jacob is in 1st grade.

“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compassion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

I’m thankful for parents who teach their children about Jesus! Thank you Jacob for showing us what a cheerful giver should be like!

  1. Hi Katie,
I’m so thankful that you and Jacob’s parents are teaching him and all the Graystone Kids about the importance of giving. Jacob very eagerly earned that money Saturday at the garage sale for his sister Anna, and I’m so glad he wanted to give a portion of it back to God Sunday. Jacob has always had a good heart.
