School begins this week for most of our Graystone Kids. Yesterday I had a really cool opportunity to meet with parents who have a rising kindergartener and listen to their questions, anxiety, and excitement about their child starting school. I look forward to hearing their stories and partnering with them this year. But, as today starts, I have several more things on my mind and heart:
- Thinking about our 6th grade kids. Lord, protect their innocent minds and help them find faithful friends.
- Parents with children in kindergarten and the flood of mixed emotions they are encountering.
- All children adjusting to a new schedule. Parents taking their children to daycare for the first time.
- Teachers. Lord give them wisdom and energy this week.
And the last thought that continues to challenge me and hopefully you is How can we be a light this school year?
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
I believe God has given us an opportunity to be a light in our child’s school. Think about it – we don’t know if their teacher, classmates, principal, parents, PTA president, bus driver, lunch lady, and custodian knows Jesus. My prayer for you today and this school year is that God will give you opportunities to be a light and you’ll have the courage to shine.
Praying for you. Have a great week!
